Grapes
Grapes is a controller for spatial audio applications that can be integrated in DAWs, show controllers or mixing environments. It can control the leading 3D audio processors or anything that can receive OSC, to handle single sound objects or groups, easily handling pre-defined or custom trajectories, clip/scene arrangements and more. Its Canvas interface gives a clear visual overview of an entire spatial session, and a single instance of Grapes can control up to 128 sound objects simultaneously in real time, with position, movement, grouping and behavioural changes transmitted instantly to connected systems over OSC. It ships with over fifteen partner-approved OSC presets for major spatial audio engines, including IEM Plugin Suite, Spatial Audio Designer, Auralite, L-ISA, d&b Soundscape and SpatGRIS, and can also send to fully custom OSC destinations, or run multiple OSC modules simultaneously to control sound, visuals, show control systems and game engines all at once. Since it communicates entirely via OSC rather than processing audio itself, a whole show or composition can be redirected to a different spatial audio engine simply by switching the OSC output, and spatial movements can be recorded as MIDI automation or triggered directly from a DAW's timeline when used as a VST3 plug-in.

Grapes was developed by Not a Number GmbH, a 3D audio studio based in Leipzig led by founder and managing director Felix Deufel, whose company otherwise creates bespoke spatial sound concepts for live events, art and music installations. The software was presented publicly for the first time at Superbooth 2025 in Berlin under the name "Grapes – 3D Audio Control." Development has continued since, with version 1.3.0 adding ADM OSC support for receiving external object positions, parameter-mappable clip actions, expandable row buttons, and extended OSC settings, alongside refinements such as negative group offsets for spreading sound objects in either direction. Grapes has also formalised integrations with major spatial audio platforms, including an officially announced cooperation with L-Acoustics' L-ISA system via a dedicated ADM OSC preset, developed in exchange with L-Acoustics' Sylvain Biguet and David Reid.
