DIN

2018
In the media installation by Claudia Rohrmoser and Florian Kühnle, 30 LED screens distributed in the airspace of the exhibition are in a state of uncertainty and trigger signal errors throughout the media system. The signal errors accumulate, and the entirety of screens and lights of the exhibition start to glitch and break down.

In a process of self-regulation, all digital displays run through rituals of calibration over and over again, without ever reaching an ideal and error-free state of operation. The continuous attempts to optimize itself lead the system into a new state of ‚normal‘, a normal that incorporates the error.

TAUCHER created the soundtrack for the spatial media installation, an evolving electronic organism that starts off at an almost imperceptible level and slowly gains momentum while the visual calibration of the screens becomes aver more frantic.

DIN was presented on a high-resolution spatial sound system with speakers invisible to the visitors.
