Ambrio Spatial Mixer

Ambrio Spatial Mixer is a mixer for a new era of DJ performances. Built by the Brussels-based studio Ambrio, it's billed as the world's first DJ mixer designed for intuitive 3D spatial control, letting DJs and live artists position and animate sound in real time across a multi-speaker environment rather than a fixed stereo field, work that has been demonstrated in setups as elaborate as a 14.1 speaker array. The mixer integrates directly with Ableton Live for performance use, and Ambrio has run hands-on workshops in collaboration with Ableton exploring practical spatial workflows, movement and depth as compositional tools, including sessions built around AIAIAI Audio's UNIT-4 monitors.

history

+–

Ambrio Spatial Mixer comes from Ambrio Sound, a studio based in Brussels, Belgium, dedicated to spatial sound as a performance tool for DJs and live artists. The mixer had already been shown at events including Sweden's Intonal Festival before its wider public presentation at CTM Festival Berlin in January 2026, where Ambrio hosted both a demonstration session and, in collaboration with Ableton, the "Spatial Mixer 101" workshop introducing artists to spatial DJing with Live. The mixer's capabilities were showcased live that same month at CTM's "Spatial Radiants" event at Haus der Visionäre, featuring a line-up of spatially minded performers including Blawan, KAVARI, Net Gala, Jensen Interceptor and ophélie.
